Small Business Spotlight: New Hope Healing
At New Hope Healing, care goes beyond the clinical. What began as a local mental health clinic has evolved into a multidisciplinary hub for holistic, trauma-informed support across all ages. Under the leadership of owner Jen Haidar, the team is breaking barriers and reimagining what accessible, integrated care looks like in Central Iowa.
Foundations & Mission
New Hope Healing was originally founded by Jackie Joens and purchased by Jen Haidar in 2024, marking the start of a new chapter filled with collaboration, warmth, and growth. After stepping into ownership, Jen quickly realized that care could go even deeper when disciplines worked together. Inspired by conversations with other mental health professionals, she learned about the vital role occupational therapy plays, especially for children navigating emotional regulation. That insight launched a vision: create a welcoming space where services like OT, speech, physical therapy, and mental health support are offered under one roof, without the sterile feel of a clinic.
"We want people to feel at ease the moment they walk in," Jen says. "That means creating an environment that’s safe, cozy, and genuinely supportive—where healing doesn’t feel intimidating."
Accessibility and inclusivity remain core to New Hope Healing's mission. "Everyone deserves the chance to be seen, heard, and supported," Jen shares. "We’re committed to meeting people exactly where they’re at—without barriers or judgment."
Services & Offerings
New Hope Healing provides a wide range of holistic therapy services, including occupational, physical, speech, and mental health therapy. Services are available in-office and through community-based partnerships, with a focus on creating safe, respectful, and empowering experiences for each client.
Their team uses a trauma-informed, strength-based approach to support individuals across the lifespan—from helping young children build motor skills to supporting adults navigating life transitions. New Hope Healing also has a dedicated provider to integrate that aspect of care for clients who may benefit from medication.
Collaboration is key. Therapists frequently refer internally when they identify an opportunity to strengthen care, whether it’s recommending speech therapy for a child with communication challenges or connecting a client struggling with emotional regulation to occupational therapy. By working together, the team offers comprehensive, seamless support that reduces wait times and increases access.
Telehealth also plays a crucial role, especially in rural and underserved communities. "Iowa ranks 44th in mental health availability," Jen notes. Telehealth allows us to break down barriers like distance, transportation, or mobility issues and ensure people can receive consistent, timely care, no matter where they live."
Community & Partnerships
Community collaboration is a cornerstone of New Hope Healing’s work. By partnering with schools, shelters, and other local organizations, the clinic can meet people where they are—literally and figuratively. These partnerships help address social determinants of health and increase access for individuals who might otherwise go without care.
One powerful example is their partnership with Hope Ministries, which helps bring consistent mental health care to the unhoused population. "It’s not just about delivering services," Jen says. "It’s about honoring people’s dignity and ensuring they feel valued."
New Hope Healing also accepts all insurances and works with clients facing financial hardship. "Healing should never be a privilege—it’s a right," Jen affirms. "We walk with people through their toughest moments, and we’re committed to making sure care is never out of reach."
Growth & Expansion
In the past year, New Hope Healing has experienced incredible growth. They’ve opened new locations in West Des Moines and Clive, expanded their offerings to include feeding therapy, and deepened their community outreach.
"We’re able to help more people across all ages and life stages," Jen says. "And we’re building something that doesn’t just grow in size, but in impact."
Behind the Scenes
Behind every therapy session is a team that brings both heart and expertise. Jen describes her team as driven, community-rooted, and passionate about making a difference. They serve in schools, shelters, and beyond—meeting people where they are and building real, lasting connections.
The work is deeply meaningful, but also full of joy. "It’s so powerful to watch someone walk in heavy and leave lighter," Jen reflects. "And even more powerful when they realize they no longer need us to thrive."
Looking Ahead
As New Hope Healing grows, the vision remains clear: deepen the impact, expand the reach, and keep showing up with heart. Jen is especially excited about nurturing the seeds already planted and watching them flourish into something truly transformative.
"We like to say the sky is the limit here," she adds. "And I believe that with everything we’ve built—compassion, connection, and community—the future is bright."
Whether through a therapy session, a community partnership, or a casual conversation, New Hope Healing is showing up to make mental health care more accessible, more inclusive, and more human, one client at a time.
Unofficial motto? Therapy on wheels—meeting you where you're at (quite literally).
